We had a fantastic bunch of volunteers who participated in the Screenprinting Work Party for the Postcard project on Sunday, August 20 at Pratt Fine Arts Center.
We screenprinted, cut, and assembled 450 complete sets of 12 postcards designed by 10 fab artists. We had people who stayed the whole event and those that helped us an extra hour and a half to print and pack the final stack of red postcards. We had people who jumped in to help teach newcomers how to print when they had just learned themselves. We had people who organized new and better ways of assembling the sets. We had people who scored hundreds of bands to wrap around the sets. We had participants who brought tasty food to share including homegrown tomatoes. We had someone make a video of the event! The work each and every volunteer did was valuable and so very appreciated by me and Marja Huhta. Every participant was able to take a set of postcards with them and we currently have sets at the Pratt Print Studio if you are interested in being part of the project. We’re asking for a $5 donation if you are able to give it, but most importantly, we want the postcards to be used to contact your local, state, and federal representatives to let them know how you feel about important issues. Let your voice be heard!
We will be holding postcard writing parties and adding more places to pick up the sets around Puget Sound so check back here for details and updates.
